World War I Conscientious Objector Pacifist Stories

Public Deposited

Includes: "'Crucifixions' in the Twentieth Century: The Cases of Jacob Wipf and the Three Hofer Brothers...told on the hospital cot by Jacob Wipf"; "Desecration of the Dead by American 'Huns'", a narrative by David Hofer, which corroborates and amplifies "Crucifixions in the 20th Century," though rendered without knowledge of the story told by Jacob Wipf; "Letters from a Political Prisoner in a Military Hospital U.S.A.": "Moans from the Military Machine"; "From Out the Guardhouse" by one of the twenty-one-- Part I of this tract appeared in the Gospel Herald (June 23, 1922), 20:266, as a reprint from The American Friend (Feb. 10, 1927). Author of the piece is W.P. Kissick. It was probably sent to the GH by C.L. Graber, who was in the guardhouse with Kissick. "The first draft of this leaflet was written in the winter of 1919-20 shortly after the events described in the opening part. The author was then a graduate student in an eastern school and put the article aside until revised and published in the American Friend for February 10, 1927. It is now reprinted (February, 1938) with a few changes, in the hope that it may be a call from the past to "carry on," come what may."
